THE
NEW VIDEOS FOR THE HOTEL SHOW...
were by far more complex and artistically challenging. I feel like
we got more into the actual meaning of the songs. The idea was to
continue strategies and aesthetics of the first videos and to focus
on some strong statements. Rather than a visual patchwork the videos
follow a clear road in a bizarre but visually homogeneous world.
Most of the visual ingredients have been produced by ourselves,
like the spotlights and LED - Walls.
For the first time we had actors performing as well. We rediscovered
more than ever the old analogue way of creating pictures as seen
in Monsters...Special thanks go to our unexpected support from the
Netherlands: Mr.Toon. For further details please check out the my
personal notes under the screenshots.

FROM "U-R-DA-1" (PAL/3:33 MIN) PERFORMANCE:ALICE
GRINDA
SUCKING THE SILVER SCREEN..
A quite nasty piece of work. Our comment on show bizz. A beautiful
dancing remote controlled girl
is performing in a glass box..We tried to be as much visually shocking
as possible. Our probably most extreme video so far.
SCREENSHOTS
FROM "YEAHx3" (PAL/3:33 MIN) FOOD SLAMMING PERFORMED BY THE
MEMBERS OF LEM:-)
WHAT
A DIRTY WAY TO DO POSTPRO..
This is the second video where we were playing around with the idea
of the projected picture as a virtual silver screen. It's about the
rock'n roll stereotypes and the audience reacting to it.

WHEN
A VINTAGE GAME CHARACTER IS SENT INTO THE WOODS..
...then it must be scared to death. That's what we thought and kidnapped
that little Boulderdash Guy from his Commodore C64 home. His abstract
appearance based on just a few pixels is a nice contrast to the paranoid,
surreal world surrounding him.
SCREENSHOTS
FROM "DESTINATION EARTH" (PAL/3:33MIN) BASED ON A 50'S US-PROPAGANDA CARTOON (PUBLIC DOMAIN)
"STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF NO TOWERS"
(SPIEGELMAN)
The on-going political chaos in this world makes it difficult to find
a safe position. The re-editing of an old american propaganda film
seemed to me an appropriate approach to comment the political developments
without being a smart-ass. One thing's for sure: our enjoyable lifestyle
and lifestandard depends a great deal on oil without a difference
between the States and Europe.
SCREENSHOTS
FROM "SONIC UUU" (PAL/3:33MIN) _BASED ON A FILM OF A HYPNOSE EXPERIMENT (CA.1950, PD)
_ "PUMPING BLOOD" FOOTAGE BY ALEXANDER KOSHKA-STEIN
(GER, 2000) (USED WITH KIND PERMISSION)
"SHE'S ON A STRANGE JOURNEY INTO THE CENTER OF HERSELF.."
... apparently. We were playing around on two different visual levels:
her inner and outer world. Our only concern was it to avoid the impression
that someone is being physically torturted, so a lot of the original
material of the experiment has been removed. The video got simpler
and more abstract.
I personally like the mysterious typographical screens. They take
you and her on a strange journey. By the way I find her facial expression
(the actual probant) absolutely hypnotizing when she's looking directly
into the camera
:) ha ha ha
